How to receive files with FileDrop

Choose a destination folder, send an upload link and check incoming files without exposing your folder contents to the sender.

A FileUSB guide · Practical usage notes

Sharing in the opposite direction

FileDrop receives files from someone instead of sending files you already hold. The sender does not need an account: they open an upload page through your link. It can help collect event photos or request a document. The link is not a login credential for your account. The sender should not see your other files or customer panel.

Prepare the destination folder

Choose a clearly named folder for incoming files. Separate folders for different jobs make later organisation easier. Create a link in Send Me Files and use Copy Link. Check that you are sending an upload link rather than a download share. Explain what you need, the file format you expect and the intended delivery time so the sender knows what to provide.

Confirm that the upload finishes

The sender selects a file, submits it and waits for success. Check your destination folder too, confirming the expected file arrived. A statement that the upload started is not enough. Incoming files consume your storage and remain subject to type, size and security checks. If uploading fails, use the displayed error to decide what to do; changing an extension to evade security checks is not a solution.

Close access when collection ends

Share the link only with intended people and close it when the job is done. Do not run an unfamiliar file just because it appeared in the expected folder. Check its name, type and context; ask support if something seems suspicious. Organise accepted files using an archive structure. To send a file back, use a sharing link, not FileDrop. This keeps incoming material separate from content you deliberately make available to others, with a clear purpose for each access route.
